He received his MFA in creative writing from the University of Central Arkansas with a focus on hybrid texts, publishing and pedagogy, and has been teaching in the English Program at Lansing Community College since the Spring of 2018.

As a writer, Benjamin explores multi-genre and cross-genre works in print and digital spaces. Benjamin has written one novel, 4 chapbooks of poetry and 20 years worth of zines and comics. Online, Benjamin’s works have been collected into a digital archive and he is currently focused on creating animated video essays.

As a publisher, Benjamin is a strong believer in the independent press and has been a managing editor with the Black Unicorn Press since its inception in 2005.

As a teacher, Benjamin has a whole lot to say about his pedagogical approach, and is very proud to teach Composition I and Composition II classes at Lansing Community College. His research focuses include multimodal writing, codemeshing, plagiarism and the academic limits of intellectual property law.
